Working in New York, being so far away from home makes every trip back to the motherland a very welcoming break from the insanely loud streets of NYC. I’m not even kidding, you can walk and have a conversation on the street and suddenly you need to pause for 30 seconds while 3 fire trucks (or ambulances) (or cop cars) flashing by. Or you pass by construction workers tearing up a street and simultaneously have to dodge massive wooden beams being swung over your head. Anyway, it’s a big difference standing on top of a 4500ft mountain in an absolute silence. You almost think you have gone deaf, it’s so quiet you think you’re in a vacuum. Unless there is a freezing north wind howling, then all you want is to get the heck down again..
