Reindeer Antler lamp

When I was mountain climbing in Norway I picked up 5-6 antlers from the ground that had been shed by the sami’s reindeers (they shed it every winter). I took a couple of them with me to New York planning to make something out of it. After some thinking I decided to make a lamp for my bedroom since I didn’t have a table lamp or anything. I didn’t really sketch a design for the lamp, I just had a rough idea that it had to stick out from the wall attached to a post that I could screw into the wall. Wood was the most practical material to work with here, and I decided on a metal rod combining the antler to the wood, creating an interesting mix of materials.

I know this is just DIY, but I would totally buy this. The shadows and light this lamp creates mixes primal and steampunk that reminds me of the post apocalyptic setting of The Book of Eli.

Also, the zoom effects on the images are creepy in this…light…get it!?! 🙂

  2. I will totally use this as a quote on the upcoming packaging design.
