Designing a whole airline site from scratch is probably one of the most challenging projects you can have as a designer. There are so many different people to design for, user scenarios, number of templates and modules and you have to keep the user, client and 3rd party partners happy with the design process. Luckily with Aer Lingus they understood design and we were on the same page about designing an airline site for tomorrow and allowing the site to be a template for what the company as a whole can grow into. A more modern, intuitive and friendly site was the main goal. Which we were able to create with a close-knit collaboration with the client.

We were able to create an airline site that balances both the commercial aspect of having booking front and center and at the same time being a site where you can go to get inspired and wanting to travel. The more you use the site the more it serves up useful information about where you wanna go or where you are in the stage of your trip. Is your flight coming up next week? The homepage changes and asks you if you wanna add any extras like hotel room, car hire etc. Is your flight tomorrow? Then it ask you if you want to check in. Have you done a previous search for Orlando? Then the next time you visit the site the booker bar is pre filled and have an offer already filling the homepage.
